WoodStock 3: Walter pall at Natures' Way

...So Doc Stone and I journeyed up to Jim Doyles' today. Had our Starbucks, and enjoyed an early morning walk thru the nursery.
Turns out Walter P. was prevented from being there by the Iceland volcano...his apologies!
BUT...all the collected trees were there! Lowest priced tree was $50 (a nice Engleman Spruce literati). Lots of Rocky Mountain Junipers, Ponderosa Pine, Limber Pine, and Lodgepole Pine.

Everyone had a chance to work on trees that were anywhere from 50 years old to perhaps 800-1000 years old...some unbelievable deadwood, twisted trunks, etc.

Doc and I came away happy with a bit of sunburn and 4-5 trees each!

MidAtlantic Bonsai Societies

Three of our members went to the Mid-Atlantic Bonsai Society show in the Catskills, NY this past weekend; Myself, Flex Hoevig and Doc Stone.

Very nice show with three guest speakers, a display from members of a number of different clubs and a vendor area with all a bonsai enthusiast could ever want. You could get in for $10.00 but the cost was $75.00 for each guest speaker.

The show was about four hours away in Kerhonkson (near New Paltz). Next year, the show will be in Hershey, PA which is much closer. We will keep you posted. You may want to attend, just to see what a show is like. You'll learn a lot, meet friends and have a good time. Maybe a number of us could go out together.

April Meeting

We had an excellent meeting on Wednesday, April 14th with about 20 attendees. I gave a presentation on wiring with a brand new digital slide projector which turned out to be cranky and kept blinking on and off. I fixed it the next day but it was a glitch in the presentation which I did not appreciate. My apologies to all.

Three new people came to our meeting. Welcome!! We hope you enjoyed yourselves and will come back again and join our group.

The upcoming schedule, May thought August, is:

** Saturday, May 22nd (Change of Date)
Workshop, 9AM to 1PM, Clover Garden Center

** Wednesday, June 9th, Regular Meeting
One hour talk on Pinching, 7PM to 9PM
Clover Garden Center

** Saturday, July 10th
Workshop, 9AM to 1PM, Clover Garden Center

** Wednesday, August 11th, Regular Meeting
Miscellaneous subjects, 7PM to 9PM
Clover Garden Center

We are also asking our members to consider allowing one or two of their trees to be displayed during the Ocean City Flower Show, Saturday, June 6th. Our Treasurer, Frank Leone, heads up this show and we should both support his efforts and get our name out to the public at large. I'll have one tree at the show. How about you???

Clover Garden Center has just ordered a new shipment of bonsai soil, aluminum wire and other products. If you have the need, please support them with your business.

Hope to see everyone at the workshop in May. Everyone says the last one was a lot of fun. Let us see if we can have another good time on May 22nd.

One last thing, our Sensei Chase Rosade, is under the weather. If you have a moment, drop him a get well card. His address is:

6912 Ely Road, Solebury
New Hope, PA 18938-9634

Sincerely,
